TD made 1889

Posted by Eldar Gulli on Thursday, 23 April 2015, at 2:24 p.m.

I have this TD With sn 468xxx .

It has been tampered With by unknowledgeable people with bad tool and they have tried to pull the barrel out of the stock without removing tang screw - an stupid action which off cause resulted in a bent tang which is now repaired .

My question is as follows : This rifle with nearly all its finish intact does have a somewhat sloppy lockup . It is not much but the looseness is there . How can this be - as this rifle has not been used before it was found in some crate in the nineteen forties or fifties and thereafter it may have been fired a few hundred times , but this does not explain the excessive wear on the tang and/or locking lug/breechblock and /or hinge pin arrangement .

How come the looseness of the breech ?

The bore and chamber are both in excellent condition and it is still blue/black under the breechblock .
