The first thing I noticed was the color/finish of the wood. It looks recently done to me. The fit of the trigger guard tang is terrible. The breech plug tang sits higher than the wood (although the tang screw could be loose). Overall the wood finish just doesn't look 1870ish. I would expect to see scars and scratches at the sling ring and band swivel (maybe they are there, but the pictures don't zoom in on those areas very well). It could have been cleaned, sanded and refinished, but as Dick noted the cartouche and Circle P are much too sharp to have survived that.

Bottom line. I wouldn't buy it with your money :)
