Trooper Ryan, of the 7th Cav., who was on Reno Hill, carried a Sharps with a scope, and made very good use of it in the battle. If only someone could locate that Sharps today. It is also fact that some Cavalry units, if not all, were issued a few TD rifles for hunting purposes, there were also a few of these in use on Reno Hill. As to scopes, I have never seen or read of a TD issued with one. When Billy Dixon made his famous shot it was with Iron Sights at Adobe walls, using a Sharps.
