That's a very nice one. I think the early ones such as that, with the Sharp's tang sight, are the prettiest. They certainly have the nicest engraving. Personally, I always like the wood to be darker than the metal, too.

Rear sight graduations are still on the right side, like the service sight. Just before changing to the M1877 sight for all models, a very few OMs (only) were made with the '73 stepped sight having the numbers on the left. Such pieces also have the Springfield-designed "one screw" tang sight, which was a disaster.
