Not sure what you mean by "identification" - it is what you say it is. Date of manufacture would have been 1879. Parts are available for restoration, should you wish to do so. I would.

Apparently it was once owned by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts - they were well-known for marking their weapons. The GA is a puzzle, it might indicate use of a stock from a Georgia-owned rifle, or it could be something else altogether.
