Rick, when you say, "stamped on the receiver" do ypu mean stamped on the breechblock?

Number one seems normal enough - did not find number in SRS.

When you refer to "Al's book" do you mean volume 1 or volume 2?

Beveled edge lockplates are the norm for all models from 1865 to 1870. Rear sight on number two is normal - if - as I suspect (pending clarification of stamping location) the gun is some version of the Model 1866. Rod could be a tulip-head CW type, or a bubba.
