You are quite welcome - we do best at assessing the originality and/or correctness of various specimens of the arms themselves.

The lack of surviving records can be most frustrating, especially to persons such as yourself who assume that there actually IS a list somewhere!

By virtue of the NJ markings, you are actually way ahead of the pack - most states did not mark their stuff. If you can find out which NJ cavalry units were where, during the 1887 through 1895 period, you will be able to make a pretty good guess as to the usage of your carbine.
