Only 1100 rifles without records? Don't we all wish!!!!!!

Where on earth (seriously, I'd like to know who put out that rumor) did you come up with that figure? For the trapdoor/Krag period, data has survived on only about 5% of the numbers, or 1 out of 20!

Those "military issue records" - barring some TOTALLY unknown "pot of gold" that didn't go the furnaces over 100 years ago - that remain, reside in the various National Archive repositories, which have been searched, and searched again. Four books of numbers were published, but your carbine is not listed in them.

I understand that it is frustrating to be told "no", but this really is pretty much a dead end situation. You do not hire a researcher to go through thousands of reams of paper looking for one number - we're not talking about a digitized, electronic process here, it's hands and knees, looking through the boxes!
