Hammer removal

Posted by Ab Abercrombie on Saturday, 3 January 2015, at 12:50 p.m.

Most Noble Knights of the Trapdoor,

I hope that y'all all had a joyous Christmas and that the New Year will be for you a good one. My wife and I are back from another 4-month teaching semester in Africa, and household tasks arising after 120 days of entropy's rule have occupied a lot of time. Quickly bored with such activities, I decided to quit on house & truck repairs in order to think about trapdoors.

So anyhow, I'd like to work on an old carbine of mine. The little firearm has a broken hammer: the thumb-cock lever is just flat gone. I tend to scratch metal parts when I try to repair 'em, so before I attempt anything drastic, I am begging for how-to-remove-hammer advice from y'all, the Folks Who Know. Yes, the hammer-screw came out quite easily, and I've tapped the hammer with a rubber mallet; it does not move.

Any help would be appreciated.

AA
