Re: M'88 Wiper Tip

The ability to identify fake wiper tips became more difficult since they started using 26 TPI taps which is correct. In the past, the wiper would not thread onto the 26TPI threads on the rod. Things to check: Yhr tip of the wiper should have a slight taper toward the mouth. When the kinurling stops, the taper should increase. The threads do not start at the mouth of the wiper, but back about two thread depths like the carbine rods. The tip of the wiper wshould be almost identical to the tip of the M79 rifle rod. If the wiper has knurling that only goes in one direction then it is for the M80, M82, or M84 rod bayonet rifles. If it has cross knurling, then it is for the M88 rifle. Look in Book II on page 269 for a close-up of the two varieties
