Posted by Colon B. Roberts, Jr. on Tuesday, 28 October 2014, at 2:54 p.m.

Would appreciate any information ref. history/value.

Markings:

Stock: None Metal: Top of butt plate stamped, US.

Barrel band right side stamped, U (No letter S shown & no sign of wear)

Barrel length measured inside - 22"

Stamped on top of Breech Block - US Model 1873

Stamped on top rear of Breech is Serial No. 269017 (According to list of serial nos. it was made in

1885 & this list shows no carbines were made that year. This indicates has been cut down?

Condition: Stock - very good, few minor dings.

Barrel - no scratches at all and still has Blue finish.

Breech & Block - Has a Case Harden finish? No rust found at all. Proof Marks: Top of barrel looks like letter A on side pointing to the left. To the left of this symbol is

V, P, a symbol not legible but I learned is an Eagle & what looks like the letter "F"
