Vicki- seeing the rest of this thread and now having a serial number to work with, I am pretty sure you have a rifle with the 1884 on the lockplate on the side of the rifle.

If that is the case, then it is a rifle made up from various parts by one of the old surplus dealers. These have almost no collector interest, although they can be fun for shooters or look great as a decorative item. Value will depend on condition, and I have seen similar guns at gun shows selling in the range of $250-350, or less than half of what an all original rifle would bring. Of course, a really great, all original rifle may bring 4 or 5 times what yours will bring.
