Re: removing breech screw

I used a 12" cresent wrench to remove 2 of them about 2 years ago. I had 2 cadet receivers that I'd gotten for the barrels, as both receivers were unusable. One breech screw was broken, so I practiced on that one. I used some hardwood strips I had in the garage to pad the receiver in my vise, and put it in my vise upside-down, so the bottom was on top. Then I put my wrench on and tightened it so that I could pull in the right direction. I didn't use a cheater (I think), and it turned right off. I didn't have any problems with the other one, and got it off without scarring it up. You have to be careful, because its tapered. I guess I just got lucky.
