It is amazing how many pistols/rifles/carbines/etc. one person "could have" owned in a lifetime of service or thievery. My distant relative Jesse James must have gone through several dozen firearms in his career as a soldier and thief. EVERY museum I have gone to across the country has one of "Jesse's pistols in their collection. The Cowgirl & I try to hit all the collections we can find and scour the Gun Shows looking for Trapdoors, looking for that one "rare" TD. Not all Jesse James owned weapons can still be out in the general stream of merchandising. I am beginning to believe that Jesse was prone to loosing one firearm after another.

I hope that Dick's next book will list all of the known "Custer" weapons from SA. There seems to be several dozen more than could have possibly been carried by the troops into battle.
