Ernie- I won't get into analyzing any of the stuff related to the Custer fiasco. The "hostiles" certainly got a bunch of carbines, and beyond that I will let the experts decide which ones, and how many, and if forensics matches made 100 years later have much validity.

Although I usually really enjoy the historic usage of firearms, the Custer stuff seems to be filled with more advocacy than indisputable facts, and that does not even get into the outright fakery that is disgusting as well as illegal and immoral.
