Re: Got lucky on Gunbroker today - 68/68

Posted by Dick Hosmer on Tuesday, 5 August 2014, at 12:58 p.m., in response to Re: Got lucky on Gunbroker today, posted by Fred on Tuesday, 5 August 2014, at 11:14 a.m.

There are a few single digits, and VERY low doubles in the usual places (SA, RIA, Smithsonian, West Point, etc.). I'm aware (off the top of my head) of the following in private hands: 31, 38, 62, 63, 86, 97, XX, 12X. The "XX" is the duplicate that Graham had, but I do not have the number handy, IF I have it at all.

I think we MIGHT be able to scare up twenty numbers with a little work.

It would be interesting to get the last digit of 12X, mentioned today. It would also be interesting to know the number of Fred's aunt's rifle, actually another "XX".

Al was just beginning to get into these in some detail, asking for owner input, when the Newsletter closed. Perhaps we can all get together and do something for Trapdoor News, now? There seem to be some differing features, including minor variances in the block markings. I feel that such nuances (withiin limits of course) should not be unexpected, since these were basically hand-assembled trials pieces, not even counted as official production.
