F Troop was sometimes closer to reality than most people realize- authenticity aside. Conniving n.c.o.s, gullible officers and the like. Read Don Rickey's Forty Miles A Day on Beans and Hay, and you'll see that a little bit of F Troop in a few, certain situations. Interestingly, Forest Tucker had been in the pre WWII field artillery when it was still mounted.
