Re: M1866 chamber dimensions

Posted by Dick Hosmer on Tuesday, 1 July 2014, at 2:09 a.m., in response to M1866 chamber dimensions, posted by Stephen B. McCartney on Tuesday, 1 July 2014, at 12:11 a.m.

Length, or diameter, issue?

The one thing that immediately comes to mind is that, from your list, ONLY the '66 had a lined barrel, which would have affected the method/timing of cutting/reaming the chamber. In the '66 that all had to be done through the tang screw hole.

Beyond that I cannot say. ! don't shoot my '66.

Contrary to that of course, would be the reasoning that military chambers are usually cut loose to deal with bad ammo. THEY didn't reload, all it had to do was fit, once.
