You have a Model 1873 carbine which has had some later parts (breechblock and Buffington sight) added at some point in its' life. Is there a "star" after the serial number? That would explain the 1873 dated lockplate (which is otherwise too EARLY for the serial number).

The cartouche is the mark in the wood at the left wrist which might read something like [SWP/1881].
