Re: Removing silver paint

Thanks Dick. I didn't think that silver was a color used on the Indian allies guns, but it's always best to get the opinions of the experts.

I decided to clean the bore today, and while I had the Hoppe's #9 out, I thought I'd see if it would do any good. After letting it set for about 45 min. on the underside of the breech block I was surprised to see the 0000 steel wool remove a bit more of the paint.

I might go down to Lowes tomorrow and pick up some paint remover and see what it does to what is left of the finish on an old cut down barrel I have (it really needs a new finish anyway).

On the bright side, the bore was extremely clean. A tiny bit of rust, and a little gray on a couple patches, but that was all.
