The tall front sight blade could just mean that someone was shooting it as they normally shoot high at 100 yds. OR, now that I know the exact serial number, you might not - despite what I said earlier - have a real carbine. On the good side, you ARE "near" the range of numbers, but that whole general area is a real 'black hole' in the SRS records, so it would be hard to prove either way. Mine is not listed either, but being slightly higher actually has a few "84C" neighbors. Only one such arm (449309) listed is lower than yours.

On the other hand, funny looking front sights are a staple of bubba-faked "carbines". If you wish, you can email me some pictures at richardahosmerATcomcastDOTnet
