That's about what I thought. This rifle is in amazing condition including the bore. It does however have an unusual front sight shroud that is silver in color and adds considerable height to it. It appears to be a "slip-on" design. I'm hoping this "shroud" can be removed if desired. The original front sight block is there, but not the original blade. The shroud assembly is pinned to the hole in the original block. I see from this website that blades are available. This shroud is tight, but I don't see any evidence of solder or any adhesive.

I have a photo of the front sight, but don't see a way to attach it here.
