"Question is why did those last 2 rounds have a muffled sound."

The 43 gr of 3031 produced a lot more rapidly expanding gas than did the 26.5 gr of 4759. Muzzle blast was a lot less with the lighter load. Additionally the much faster 300 gr bullet was producing a larger ballistic crack.
