First and foremost, I would seek the advice of a real TD barrel expert, such as Bobby Hoyt, of PA.

How much of the barrel is distorted? I'll bet it goes back further than just the crown. Perhaps a bit of shortening, MAYBE, MAYBE some CAREFUL, LOCALIZED lapping? Worst case would be a reline.

For collector purposes, I'd say it could be cut NO more than 1/10" and recrowned, without serious impact.
