Your best reference is Robert M. Reilly's "American Socket Bayonets and Scabbards" which has extensive details on the Civil War era M1855 bayonets which were recycled into M1873 trapdoor bayonets, although some were made from scratch. Thus the markings may reflect the original manufacturer, or be from the time of conversion.

In my experience, not too many people care much about the finer details on these and pretty much ignore everything past the U.S. marking. Others may have different opinions.
