You are correct. Now that I know what to look for you could drive a truck in through gap! Serial Number: 61108. Would that be ca. 1875-76? The stock/cartouche looks genuine, perhaps just not original to the gun. A married peice? Could be cut down from a rifle stock. Would the government have every peiced these guns together? Thanks again, these weapons are very interesting.
