Thanks John I appreciate it. All I know is it came from a collector following the hurricane in New Orleans. Never had held one before and after researching it some it appeared authentic and in good condition so I caved in. :) I feel it needs a bit of light cleaning to help preserve the metal. Any advise on this? I did swab the bore with Hoppes and finished with Sheath. Rifling is good as it twisted cleaning rod. :) Don't want to do anymore till I talk to someone more experienced than me. It will probably end up staying in our family due to some ancestors military history. Don't even plan on shooting it and it appears tight and and sound enough to do so. The old boy has done his work. :)
