Geoffrey

Until the rifle is inspected by a competent Gunsmith familiar with the Trapdoor, do not run ANY ammo through it.

I would stick to Black Powder loads. The guys here have recommendations on whom to buy safe loads from.

I load all my own & have no suggestions.

212951 Should have a date of 1883. No big deal unless you are a purest. Dates got mixed from time to time. We will never know the trail these rifles took to get to the state they are in today. If the rifle is tight & has a good bore they are a blast to shoot. Just remember that it will shoot very high at 100 yards. They were "zeroed" at approx. 205 yards.
