It's hard to say. An "expert" would have to see the gun. It cannot just be written off, as there ARE a VERY few "nearby" carbine listings amidst a huge sea of rifles. This can be frustrating at times, especially in areas of low data population, which is the case here.
379756 was a carbine. 380859 is shown as a carbine in SRSV2 and SRSV4, but as a RIFLE in SRSV1 and SRSV3! FWIW, that is the ONLY number which I have ever seen duplicated in all four volumes. The texts of the paired-up citations are the same - both carbine refs say it was "targeted at SA", and both rifle refs say it was in use by a Tennessee infantry regiment. So, period rebuild, old recording error, new (SRS) transcription error? We'll never know.
