Jim,

it's called nick a date.. an acid and probably would not work on mine, but may on the one in question. I think the best way would be to file ever so smoothly the top of the receiver, then with something like 800 grit to get a smooth finish *using a sanding block of course). It may come out with just that.. then I'd do the acid test.. but how would that all affect the value of the gun if done?

The only help for mine would be an Xray... I wonder if a casing or cartridge is still in the chamber? One day we will see.
