1869 Cadet question

Posted by Steve Johnson on Tuesday, 3 September 2013, at 9:02 p.m.

I'm new here but was hoping for a little help. I have an 1869 Cadet trapdoor SN #400, ( 400 stamped on receiver and barrel), it has sling swivels which were probably added at a latter date but everything else appears ligit (for what I can tell with my limited knowledge) and in decent condition, however what confuses me is the butt-plate has RUCKER stamped across the top end of the plate with the standard US at the top, would anyone have a clue as to what RUCKER would represent? The stamping appears proper for the period.

Thank you for any information you may be able to share or to be able to direct me to any reference books so I can research

Steve
