Trapdoor finish

Posted by fred on Saturday, 31 August 2013, at 4:27 p.m.

Hello, I have a question for you knowledgeable people. I have a 1873 trapdoor serial 490155. The top of the comb is stamped CO.65. The rifle does not appear obviously refinished or new looking. The eagle and springfield markings look bold. I was wondering what the stock marking meant. Also the lockplate and block look blued, would this mean it was arsenal refinished at one time? The block is pretty much faded to a dark gray. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Fred
