Hi Dick, Thanks for your reply. The serial number is 4692. Of the features you mention, the hammer is checker, but I'm unsure of the differences between degrees of checkering. -It does have three distinctive 'clicks'/positions when cocked. -The very end of the cleaning rod is knurled. -Crossed arrows breechblock; Check. -No date on the lockplate ( visible from the outside). The lockplate is stamped 'U.S. Springfield with Eagle and Shield, but out any other markings. -No barrel proofs; Check -One-piece front sight; Check. -The rear sight may have been 'up-graded'? It is adjustable for windage ( knob at the far end, RH side ), and a center sliding leaf in the portion that flips up. That center sliding leaf has two small circular apertures, top and bottom, with a Christmas tree shaped aperture just above the bottom-most circle.
-I am unsure of what a 'Long-wrist' stock is. There is a faint stock cartouche, in the area above the trigger, on the LH side.
The sling is leather with heavy brass mountings.
Thank you so much for the information you've shared. I hope to learn more. Best Regards, Jim F.
