I fully understand your point, and can confirm that this does happen, not saying based on input from this site, but other websites, with regulars that have access to the SRS books, will provide information as you state, and "lead" the person asking the question to a false conclusion.

It happened to me with a Spencer rifle, had to go back and re-read the post before I understood that the information was a guess, not facts.

We all know that each rifle was issued, and some unit used the rifle, the need fulfilled is to be able to say that the 113th North Dakota Unit used the rifle, not that "somebody" used the rifle.

The more I collect, the more I realize that the "story" has as much value as the item, in many situations.

I hope that the regulars on this website continue to offer the data as in present form, the disclaimers are clear, and understood by most.
