Hello all, I posted recently about a problem extracting fired casings from my M1873. Found out the problem. The gentleman who is reloading the casings for me says that he found in them a small protrusion about the size of a finish nail head about 1" to 1 1/4" from the base of the casing. Apparently there is a small pit of some type in the chamber. My thinking is that it was small enough and shallow enough that as long as the rifle was well lubricated it ejected fine, but as the barrel got hot and with loss of lubrication they began to stick. Not bad enough that they were difficult to extract, just wouldn't eject without the aid of my fingers. Looks like I may be in for a barrel resleeve. Just posting this in case someone else comes across a similar problem. RB
