I think Blunt covered this pretty well actually.

I've found a lot of evidence that they were shooting gallery loads not only around the co. barracks, but at the rifle ranges too. Some posts even had a dedicated "shoot" house. A friend of mine has an iron barracks target that was recovered from Fort Keogh. Pretty cool piece there (sorry not you that I know of Ike)!
