The 79 Buckhorn IS INDEED a more sturdy sight than the Buffington. The Buffington sight can get loose at the pivot point & be sloppy OR it will be so tight that you cannot adjust windage without difficulty. Once the windage screw is bent trying to move the ladder it will become out of round.

Most guys use "Kentucky" windage with the Buckhorn. Figure out where she hits at 100 yards & adjust. Hit a deer in the boiler & it will go done with a 45-70 slug in em'
