I'm ashamed to say that my book does not actually give dimensions, and my guns are not handy.

Go to wwwdotpicturetraildotcomslashsa4570af, where you will find examples of M1868 (long) and M1870 (short) receivers. In fact, there are photos of a scarce/rare 1870 Trials rifle (which I acquired recently after 25+ years of looking) in the very first album.

You have a perfectly standard M1868 rifle, with the long receiver.
