Good evening, Bob,
I checked your S/N 543364 in all (4) Volumes of my Springfield Research Service "SERIAL NUMBERS OF U.S. MARTIAL ARMS" and the results of my search follow:
Only (5) guns with serial numbers in the 543000 series were listed: 543225; 543259; 543297; 543464; and 543486, and all are listed as "88R" (Model 1888 Round Rod-Bayonet Service Rifles).
There were (29) rifles listed here with S/Ns in the 543000-series. The closest ones to your number are: 543288 and 543369, and all (29) of those are listed as "88R" (again, Model 1888 Round Rod-Bayonet Service Rifles).\
No Rifles at all listed in the 543000 series.
No Rifles at all listed in the 543000 series [the numbers jumped from 542435 (an "88R") right to 546332 (an "88R").
Sorry to report, no "hits" on your serial number 543364. the SRS is the only large-scale cxarefully-researched and verified repository of "TRAPDOOR" ar,s serial numbers, so if it isn't here the chances of finding any information are pretty slim/
With best regards,
