Wow - that's what they call a sleeper. What did you finally have to give for it? Hopefully you were among a very small group of bidders - God bless small auction houses.

Lots of good stuff there, even little points like the correct M69 Cadet band. That's what you really like to find, and is also what totally eliminates ANY thought of a cut-down! My carbine has some similar issues, in that EVERY small detail is absolutely 100% correct, except for a pretty ugly re-done one-piece front sight. Some people turn up their noses - I feel it's a field repair, a modern faker would have done a better job.

HOPE the real rear sight prep is just hiding under the other base. The M70C sight itself will be a very tough find, but if you can just screw on a rifle one, while you're looking, the gun will instantly look better.

At the front, the barrel dovetail can be welded up and a new front sight made - remember blade is brass, or, you might consider what was done to mine, and simply apply a better-looking replacement, rather than trying to recreate the original.

Congratulations!!
