Re: 1873/1884 Receiver/block

It should "fit" fine, and be completely safe/serviceable, but would overhang by about 1/32" each side.

So far as the apparent four digit receiver is concerned, a quick ID: what is the shape of the front end of the cutout directly below the hinge pin? Numbers may come and go - but that feature should never lie. Sharp square corners = below 96300. Smoothly rounded = above 96300.

In fact that is precisely what recently tripped up our "friend" in Las Vegas - he forgot (or maybe never knew) that "Custer" carbines must have square-notch receivers. Now, for all you guys carding your needle files, there ARE other differences, which we'll not mention.
