Hi, John,

I checked my SRS VOLUMES-2 and -3 first,l since they seem tgo have the largest "TRAPDOOR population" (60 pages and 38 pages respectively, arranged in 2 columns of 50 serial numbers per page). The closest S/Ns to 31323 in VOLUME- 2 are:

31204, a Model 1873 Rifle, 01/02/1877, associated with the 5TH INFANTRY and reported "DAMAGED"

and 31334, a Model 1773 Rifle, 1898, associated with COMPANY-F, 2ND NEW JERSEY VOLUNTEER INFANTRY.

In VOLUME-3 I found:

31280, a Model 1873 Rifle, 12/30/1879, associated with COMPANY-H, 5TH INFANTRY.

and

31398, also a Model 1873 Rifle, 12/30/1879, and associated with COMPANY-I, 5TH INFANTRY.

Not really much to report, I'm afraid.

With best regards,

PETE
