first... what makes you think that was a Joslyn cartridge? Most I'm pretty sure were originally on the 56 rimfire platform.. utilizing the common "spencer" ammunition.

As far as the trigger guards.. Guttermann's is a pretty good source of antique fire arms and he may have a visual there on his site.

Back to the cartridge, you should post photos or provide a link showing the, bottle neck (if it has one, or a straight casing and provide the measurements) and especially the primer if a centerfire (berdan/boxer/martin ect.)
