You have a good memory Dick! I am guilty as charged, although my 1873 1st Model Carbine...as well as my 1884 Exp.RRB are both far short in condition than the other pieces. I do understand that condition is not a huge factor in a correct 1st Model Carbine...but with a screw missing, and the other obviously tampered with...can it not be possible the rear site was CHANGED...not just an attempt to REMOVE? Perhaps my eyes are looking at the buttplate to wood fit incorrectly...it sucks getting old! Thanks for all your help!!!...and looking forward to getting my autographed copy of your next book!!! Bob
