1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Info
Posted by Bill Carlson on Monday, 4 June 2012, at 7:12 p.m.
First of all, I am inexperienced in this area and new to the web site, so forgive me if I ask a rookie question. I browsed some of the bulletin board entry's on the site, and am impressed with many of the answers and responses given to questions, so I'm on board with my situation. Here goes..
I have an 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle which I may be interested in selling. With my limited knowledge of these types of guns, I would say this one is in very good-excellent shape, with all metal and wood markings clearly visible. The gun's serial number is 267874. I want to learn as much as I can! Can anyone please tell me something about it? I will respond to your questions and provide any additional detailed info you need. Thanks!!
Secondly, if I would sell it, I would want to sell it to someone who would keep it in their collection and not someone like a local gun dealer, who would turn right around and market it for a profit. How would I go about this? I have no idea what info to provide, how or where to get the info presented to this type of interested buyer, what questions to ask to assure that I'm dealing with an honest buyer, or even if anyone would be interested in my gun at all.
Thanks in advance for any info and/or help you can give me.
