i have a springfield carbine bought in canada by a friends father in 1936..the serial number is 1280 and shows more wear than any gun ive ever ring bar signs of tacks now gone...forearm almost worn thru..some stamping on stock but mostly adzed off...pete whittier bought the two carbines from an indian on a hunting trip in 1936..the other gun was in serial range 44000 but had the barrell cut off to use as a ship to shore gun with blanks AS A LINE GUN...IT ACTUALLY WAS IN BETTER SHAPE BUT i traded it off...this was in 1964...ive had the 1280 since then...i s there a way to tell where it was issued???did the first ones go to texas??
