John, the head of the casing is not there, only a jagged edge with the rest of the cartridge walls inside. The casing is completely fouled and in extremely poor shape, indicating, at least to these untrained eyes, that it has been in there a very long time?

As said, the weapon is unfirable, since the firing pin is bent and frozen in the down position.

There is some crud inside the breach...including little pieces of copper shavings, I assume from the casing still there.

I can take detailed pictures next week for anyone who would like to see.
