Instead of a set-screw, I wonder if anyone has ever shrink-fit a small pin in the full-cock notch, which could then be stoned down to give minimum safe engagement?

I'd also think that a simple cam screw arrangement could be rigged so as to remove all tension on the sear-spring AFTER the hammer was cocked. I'd only recommend use of the latter for bench-rest shooting, however, where the rifle is under maximum control.
