Well the gentleman asked for the setback of the carbine sight, it is on the four carbines that were handy in the rack one early 73, one 77, one so called 79 and lastly an 1884 measured at .735 from muzzle crown to the face of the sight block. Poyer does indeed on page 49 state the .800+ number. Thank you for pointing out one more ERROR in the book known here as POYER IS WRONG. May I suggest you take YOUR carbines out and measure them in the same areas and report back here at your earliest convenience.
