That's about as "real" as it gets! Congratulations!

The very same star as on the MAA carbines, and on my 43584.

I wouldn't be in any real hurry to clean that up, either. MAYBE a rubdown with an oily rag, as a concession to slow the active rust, but no more. At first I thought about replacing the buttplate, but now I think not. Remember, the Indians used buttplates as hide scrapers.
